Three Generations of Flowers for the Gorge Community

Heights Floral has been a flower shop in Hood River since 1932. Roger & Lindamay Woosley bought Heights Floral from The Kalmettes' family in 1979. Passed down through three generations—from Lindamay to her daughter Tammy, and now to her grandson Tanner—our shop has always been a place where flowers bring people together.

Today, we’re carrying that legacy forward with a renewed spirit. While we honor the tradition of serving our community with care, our vision is to create arrangements that feel more natural, expressive, and connected to the beauty of the Gorge. From everyday bouquets to weddings and events, we design with heart—infusing each piece with warmth, creativity, and a sense of place.

At Heights Floral, we believe flowers are more than decoration. They are a way to celebrate love, mark life’s milestones, and bring comfort in moments of loss. Our hope is that every arrangement we make feels both timeless and personal—crafted with the same sincerity and care that has guided this shop for over 40 years.

Our History

From Owner, Tanner Hall

The flower shop has been part of our family — and this town — for generations. Initially operated by our family in 1979, the shop has been a place where flowers, plants, and people have come together in meaningful ways for over four decades.

I grew up surrounded by small business entrepreneurs — but I never thought I would buy the flower shop as an adult. As a child, I’d play in the back room of the shop with floral stemming machines (which made pretty great pretend swords), and as a teenager I generally avoided getting roped into working holidays.

My father had a barber shop downtown and a bike shop in the ’90s right here in the Heights. My grandparents, Roger and Lindamay, owned Heights Floral when it was located on Hull Street, and over the years they ran several other Gorge businesses too — Tricycling Along, where Lindamay sold homemade pies and deli sandwiches, and The Old Trunk, an antique shop down Dee Highway. In 1991, my mom, Tammy, bought the Heights Floral location in The Dalles, renamed it Tammy Hall Floral, and later Tammy's Floral - carrying on the family tradition of serving our community through flowers. In 2025, she passed the shop on to me.

Most of my professional experience has been in real estate, where I built many friendships and connections here in Hood River. But flowers have always been in the background of my life, and now I’m honored to step into this role — creating beauty, building community, and carrying forward my family’s legacy.

I love this town deeply and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. I hope that through Heights Floral I can continue to meet new friends, serve old ones, and share my love for both people and nature. My dream is that this business stays in harmony with the natural world while offering joy, comfort, and connection to all who walk through our doors.

Thank you for supporting our family’s shop — we look forward to welcoming you in soon!

-Tanner
